North Walney NNR Beach Cleaning Campaign

North Walney NNR Beach Cleaning Campaign

23rd of September, 2019

Important information below: Our next event will be on: Saturday 28th September 2pm - 4pm BAE's Environment Network group has informed us that they will be attending and we therefore could have 15 - 20 additional volunteers than normal. Given the large numbers that are anticipated it is most likely that we will have to ask volunteers to walk up to and back from the nature reserve from West Shore car park. If you are intending coming, please be prepared for a longer walk than usual. New and old volunteers are very welcome. Meet in good time before the start at West Shore car park. All equipment is provided, but if you can bring your own work gloves it would be helpful. Please dress for the anticipated weather and wear stout footwear. Join us if you can. The event may be cancelled at short notice due to adverse weather (rain and/or strong winds). If you wish to check whether the event is going ahead or not, please phone Steve Benn, the Senior Reserve Manager on 07917 173294. At our last event on the 14th September, 14 volunteers, including first-timers Jim and Tony collected 79kgs of litter from the reserve shoreline. A family including 3 enthusiastic young girls also joined us and we provided equipment and they carried out their own litter pick near the car park. Good on them! If you no longer wish to be in this mailing group, just let me know. Kind regards, Ewan Scott Natural England Volunteer
